This piece carries a very personal story. I created it earlier this year while recovering from a back injury that left me almost entirely bed-bound. In that vulnerable time, making this artwork became a soothing ritual; a way to dream myself back into movement, to quiet my nervous system, and to imagine a future where I was walking again.

“All For Nothing” reclaims a phrase often linked with disappointment or failure. It’s a phrase that arose within me during moments of intense discomfort and despair. Through this artwork, I reshape and transform this phrase. Instead, it invites us to reflect on the sacredness of the void; the fertile space of potential, shedding, healing, and renewal. Celebrating the magic and medicine of failure, setbacks, and moments of pause and rest. It also questions capitalist ideas of productivity: this piece was created in rest, in slowness, during a time when I felt like I “should” be doing more. Yet, it became a portal to a deeper kind of growth.

This is my first artwork ever printed on aluminum, created in partnership with POV Fine Art Printing in Downtown LA — the same studio trusted by MOCA, Hauser & Wirth, Frieze, Taschen, Disney, and more. The aluminum surface gives the work a luminous sheen, bridging the digital and material worlds in a way I’ve long admired in the work of early digital art pioneers. This medium will be an essential part of my future practice, and this piece marks the very beginning of that shift.
