Chroma Nexus, 2023

Chroma Nexus, 2023 by Edgar Fabián Frías

Chroma Nexus is a 30-second animated GIF that defies traditional art forms. Drawing inspiration from Givenchy's timeless legacy, divinatory practices, and visionary artists like James Turrell, Wassily Kandinsky, Leonora Carrington, Agnes Pelton, and Hilma af Klint, as well as the sacred colors and directions of the Wixárika community, Frías masterfully combines their expert use of color and light in this mesmerizing animation. Chroma Nexus is a vibrant tapestry of abstract shapes, including triangles, circles, and gradient colors, brought to life through animated color cycling. Frías seamlessly blends these visual elements, resulting in an immersive experience that captures the essence of contemporary art while embracing indigenous futurism, glitch art, and post-internet aesthetics. The artwork gracefully unfolds over time, inviting viewers to slow down and embark on a reflective journey.

Chroma Nexus was exhibited as a part of Givenchy Beauty’s Pride Gallery along with the artwork of artists Sam J and Vanille Verloës. This exhibition exists on Spatial and was built by Paris Based metaverse experience factory Bem Builders.
